SUPER FLOW FOR THORBJØRN RISAGER & THE BLACK TORNADO!
Two Danish Grammies, US-Canada-tour, Mediterranean Blues Cruise and a new album to be released January 31st 2025 on Provogue Records
20 years into their career, Danish bluesrockers Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado have a flow that they might never have experienced before, with gigs in 15 different countries in 2023!
In August 2023, they received no less than TWO Danish music awards. They could not even take part in the price ceremony, since they were on their way to Athens to play Joe Bonamassa’s Mediterranean cruise, “Keeping the Blues Alive”. And they had only been home in Copenhagen for 48 hours after their latest tour in the US and Canada. Last Summer, they also played the prestigious festival Sweden Rock with an audience of 42.000 persons, and at festivals in Switzerland, Finland and Belgium. Round 700 tickets were sold at their latest concert at Fabrik in Hamburg.
The band has always been successful, but it’s going better than ever. Those hundreds of thousands of miles on the highway, as well as thousands of hours in the studio, are starting to pay off!
Those who have followed the band through the years have seen where they’ve been heading:
- They now have 570.000 listeners och 3,6 miljoner streams annually at Spotify and 16.000 Facebook followers
- Great reviews and plenty of airplay in Europe, North America and Australia.
· The attendance at their concerts is greater than ever, and there are so many concert requests that a great deal of 2024 has already been booked, in a large number of European countries.
The Scandinavian music magazine Gaffa reviewed their latest album ”Navigation Blues” with the heading ”Denmark’s blues band number one kicks in American doors”, a prediction that came true! And it’s not ”only” their recorded music – with 20 million streams totally – which is producing these results. They have also gathered a faithful live audience, where many have followed them through the years and travel far to hear them. Some have heard them dozens of times. And each time the band published a new tour plan or video, people ask ”when are you coming to…Australia/California/ Memphis/North Mississippi?”
That they got booked at Asia’s biggest blues festival 2015, Mahindra Blues in India, headlined by Buddy Guy, also meant a lot to them. So far, they have played more than 1300 concerts in 24 countries. When they released their 8th studio album Oct 2022, they had been signed by Provogue/Mascot who also have Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa och Walter Trout in their catalogue, which has considerably increased their international potential.
